Minnesota-Native Wins Crashed Ice Downhill Championship

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – Spring-like temperatures on Saturday brought huge crowds to Red Bull Crashed Ice in St. Paul, where a Minnesota-native won the downhill ice cross event.

The crowds showed up on Cathedral Hill for the downhill ice skating spectacle that's expected to bring $15 million to St. Paul. With temperatures in the 50s, this year's event was also the warmest Crashed Ice on record.

Cameron Naasz, of Lakeville, won the night's big race, becoming the first American to win the Ice Cross Downhill World Championship.

On the ladies side, Jaqueline Legere, of Canada, won the championship.

This is the fifth year St. Paul has hosted Red Bull Crashed Ice.
