Trooper Rescues Bald Eagle Hit By Car In Eagan

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A bald eagle hit by a car in Eagan over the weekend is recovering after getting a hand from a state trooper.

The State Patrol posted to its Facebook page that a trooper came across an injured eagle on the side of the road Sunday near the intersection of Interstate 494 and Pilot Knob Road.

The trooper used his coat to pick up the eagle and place the bird of prey in the back of his squad car.

He then brought the wounded bird to the University of Minnesota Raptor Center.

X-rays showed the eagle suffered no broken bones but did have internal injuries.

Raptor Center officials said they're optimistic the eagle will make a full recovery.
