Patty Wetterling Recognized For Work Against Sexual Assault

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and a local organization is reflecting on its efforts toward ending the problem.

On Tuesday, Patty Wetterling was one of five people recognized for their work to end sexual violence. It was part of the 10th Annual AWARE Event put on by the Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault.

Patty's son, Jacob, was abducted near their home in St. Joseph in 1989.

She stressed the importance of victims sharing their stories and the impact that has on fighting sexual violence.

If you or someone you know is affected by sexual violence, the coalition can help. Visit the Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault online.
