Use A Credit Card At The Gas Pump? It Could Lead To Theft

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Warm weather means road trips for many of us. But what you may not know is that filling up can lead to credit card theft.

It's called skimming. Thieves are increasingly breaking into gas pumps and putting skimmers either inside or outside pumps. Earler this year, the State Department of Commerce announced a crackdown to catch skimmers and protect consumers.

State Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman joined Esme Murphy on WCCO Sunday Morning to provide an update and on what consumers need to know.
