Girl, Dog Fatally Struck By Train In Wadena

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Investigators say a 15-year-old girl and her dog were struck and killed by a freight train Saturday evening in Wadena.

According to the county sheriff's office, the incident happened just after 6 p.m.

A Burlington Northern Santa Fe train heading east struck Stacy Hundeby, of Wadena, as well as her dog.

The sheriff's office did not say how they believe the incident happened, but said they were investigating along with the Wadena Police Department, the Sebeka Police Department, the Minnesota State Patrol, and other agencies.

A GoFundMe account has been started to raise funds for Hundeby's funeral costs. The page called her "a pretty, intelligent, friendly girl who was loved by anyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was highly gifted artistically, enjoying painting and drawing. To meet Stacy was to love her. Her smile would light up the room and her laughter was infectious."
