Officials Plan To Reopen Roads Near Prince Memorial Monday
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Roads around Paisley Park in Chanhassen have been shut down since Thursday following the tragic death of Prince, a Minnesota icon in music and entertainment.
The road closures were to allow fans and community members a chance to stop by the park, leave memorials and pay their respects to Prince and his family. City officials in Chanhassen say that people are still welcome to visit Paisley Park, but roads in the area will be back open starting Monday.
Officials with the City of Chanhassen and the Carver County Sheriff's Office said Audubon Road between Highway 5 and Coulter Boulevard will reopen by 6 a.m. Monday. Barricades will be placed along the east curb line of Audubon Road to allow mourners to have a save viewing of the memorial at Paisley Park.
Motorists will be prohibited from stopping along Highway 5 and Audubon Road and should continue to park at Lake Ann Park. Visitors can access the memorial site by walking the Lake Ann Park trail.
Traffic in the area will be monitored until authorities determine when the barricades can be completely removed.
