Singer Recounts Prince's Emergency Landing To New York Times
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A singer with Prince the night his plane made an emergency landing, told her story to the New York Times.
Judith Hill says, "His eyes fixed" before he fell unconscious in the early morning of April 15th. She added, "Thankfully, I happened to be looking into his face."
The incident happened as the plane flew from Atlanta to the Twin Cities. When it landed, paramedics gave Prince a shot of Narcan, which is used to treat a possible opioid overdose.
By the time they got to the hospital in Moline, Illinois, he was awake and talking.
He later told her, "I had to fight for my life. I remember hearing your voices from afar and saying to myself, 'Follow the voices, follow the voices, get back in your body, you gotta to do this.'"
Hill told the Times that after the incident, friends convinced Prince to get help. He saw a Minnesota doctor and consulted with one in California, but died of a fentanyl overdose at Paisley Park, 6 days after the emergency landing.
