Gopher Women's Basketball Announces 2016-17 Non-Conference Schedule

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The University of Minnesota women's basketball team released its 2016-17 non-conference schedule on Monday and it includes six teams that played in last year's NCAA Tournament.

Of the Gophers 13 non-conference games, three are true road games. Minnesota will open its regular season on Nov. 12 against Harvard at Williams Arena. The Gophers get their first road game on Nov. 15 at Virginia Commonwealth, the former home of current coach Marlene Stollings.

Minnesota will be in the Bahamas over the Thanksgiving holiday at the Junkanoo Jam. The Gophers face Georgia on Thanksgiving Day and either South Florida or North Carolina the following day.

The Gophers will host Florida State on Nov. 30 as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The other road games are at New Mexico Dec. 6 and at South Carolina Dec. 11.

Minnesota will have eight home games before the start of Big Ten play.
