5 Injured, 1 Hospitalized After Brooklyn Park Apartment Fire

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Six people were injured in a Brooklyn Park apartment fire early Tuesday morning.

According to the Brooklyn Park Fire Chief, around 1 a.m. crews responded to a call of a fire at Huntington Place Apartments, located on the 5800 block of 73rd Avenue North.

Upon arrival, officers learned the fire began in a third floor apartment.

Firefighters were able to knock the flames out quickly, preventing the fire from spreading.

The flames were contained to that unit, but smoke was so heavy throughout the third floor that crews had to help people out.

The fire chief said one person was taken to North Memorial Hospital after they jumped from the third floor. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

Five other people were treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.

The Red Cross is currently on the scene assisting. There has been no word on how many people will be displaced.
