Timberwolves Sign Bloomington Native, C Cole Aldrich

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves made it official on Wednesday, adding another local star to their roster.

The Timberwolves announced the signing of center Cole Aldrich, a Bloomington native who went onto win a national championship at Kansas. He reportedly agreed to a three-year contract worth about $22 million.

Aldrich was the No. 11 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft and has played for Oklahoma City, Houston, Sacramento, New York and the Clippers.

He played with the Clippers last year and averaged 5.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game in about 13 minutes per game. He will give the Timberwolves an inside presence off the bench.

Aldrich was the Minnesota Gatorade Player of the Year in 2007, leading Bloomington Jefferson to the state tournament that year and was also a McDonald's All-American.
