Woman Sentenced To 42 Months For $1.7M Embezzlement Scheme

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An accountant convicted of embezzling $1.7 million from her employer will spend more than three years in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

Prosecutors say Diane Eiler, 48, plead guilty to one count of wire fraud in April. A U.S. District Court judge sentenced her to 42 months in prison Friday in Minneapolis.

According to the U.S. Attorney, Eiler was the director of accounting at AgQuest Financial, which offers loans and insurance to farmers and others in the agricultural industry. From 2007 to 2015, prosecutors say she funneled money from the company into her personal bank accounts. Eiler pleaded guilty to those accusations.

After her prison term, Eiler -- who lives in Bird Island, Minnesota -- will spend three years on supervised released. The court also ordered her to pay restitution for the money she stole.
