Mpls. Officials: Fox Suspected Of Biting 2 Had Rabies
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minneapolis city officials say the red fox suspected of biting two people near Lake Harriet in Minneapolis this week has tested positive for rabies.
A woman was bit by a fox Tuesday afternoon near the north shore of Lake Harriet, and a man was bit the next morning by the east shore.
Both victims say a fox came out of nowhere and bit their legs.

They are both receiving treatment for rabies, and others who came into contact with the animal have been evaluated by the Minnesota Department of Health.
Officials say people bitten by wild animals in Minneapolis -- especially foxes, bats, skunks, coyotes and raccoons – should assume the animals are rabid, and call 311 for help capturing them.
Pet owners are also urged to get their dogs and cats vaccinated for rabies and to keep them current.
