Suspected Gang Member Charged For Shooting 13-Year-Old Girl

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A suspected gang member faces several charges for a shooting that injured a 13-year-old girl.

Police say a group of seven people were standing outside a house near the corner of 41st and Dupont Avenue North earlier this month when a dark Ford Explorer pulled up to the corner.

According to the criminal complaint, the driver got out and started shooting at the group. The young girl was shot in the arm.

A person she was with told police they were targeted by a rival gang member. A witness identified Marquise Hammonds-Ford as the shooter.

On Thursday, police arrested Hammonds-Ford during a traffic stop. He is expected in court on Monday.
