MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A St. Joseph man died Monday after his car fell on top of him while he was changing the oil.

According the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, just before 2:30 p.m. officers received a call from a woman saying she found her husband pinned underneath a car in their garage, located on the 30800 block of 1st Avenue NE.

Upon arrival, officers found Gary Glein, 58, underneath a Chevrolet HHR.

Deputies said it appeared Glein had lifted the car up on a floor jack and taken off the passenger wheel to change the oil. They believe Glein was under the car when the jack slipped and caused the car to fall on his chest.

He was declared dead on the scene.

We need to raise the taxes on cars to the point citizens cannot afford them, and use the money to build stadiums and thug lines.

This type of death terrifies me as I do much of the same work at home. ALWAYS use jack stands to support your car when working on it.

    1. Dan Mack says:

Yes, Jack stands. Good Point. We are moving in the right direction with taxes when this man and others like yourself do not have enough left of their income after taxes to justify paying a government licensed shop to do an oil change. Good thing high schools have eliminated most of their industrial arts departments so that practical knowledge and skills of a mechanical nature are harder to come by. The Socialist Village is moving in the right direction, just not fast enough.

What the hell are you talking about? Step out from under whatever bridge you’re guarding and find some sunshine.

Chris, where is the sunshine in an article about the loss of a beloved son, brother, husband, and father? This is a tragedy. And do you even understand what tongue-in-cheek is re: Dan’s statements?
