Concordia University Star Zach Moore Fighting For Vikings Roster Spot

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Zach Moore was a giant at Concordia University in St Paul. Playing his way from the rough streets of south Chicago to the NFL has already been a win.

"I didn't really picture this for myself coming out of Division II Concordia," Moore said. "I was looking at plan b first and foremost, then God blessed me with this opportunity and it's been great ever since."

After getting a ring in New England, he landed here with the Vikings. A member of the practice squad last season, he's trying to get up to NFL speed.

"He's a big, strong, physical guy," said head coach Mike Zimmer. "Has a ton of ability. Sometimes Zach does a little bit by the numbers, he could just cut it loose a bit more."

That's his ticket, but that's the challenge. Play fast, but play smart.

"You want to do your job. You don't want to get lost in cutting it loose so to speak and then you forget your technique and your job," Moore said. "So always put doing your job first."

That's what he's trying to do as he continues to get comfortable and confident in an NFL training camp.

"Camp is smooth," he said. "It's just all about taking care of your body, learning every day, just getting better."
