MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A small but highly-trafficked portion of Washington Avenue is set to close for several days beginning Thursday evening.

According to Minneapolis officials, eastbound Washington Avenue South, from Hennepin Avenue to Marquette Avenue, will be closed to traffic on Thursday at 7 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m.

Motorists will encounter a detour at Hennepin Avenue to Fourth Street, then to Marquette Avenue back to Washington Avenue.

The closure is related to construction work on Nicollet Mall.
