MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Gov. Mark Dayton made a stunning admission on Wednesday about rising health insurance costs and the future of MNsure.

“Ultimately I’m not trying to pass the buck here but the reality is the Affordable Care Act is no longer affordable,” Dayton said.

Dayton says changes to the program are critical, as he stepped away from one of his signature political platforms.

“The Affordable Care Act has many good features to it, it has achieved great success in terms of insuring more people, 20 million people across the country and providing access for people who have pre-existing conditions alike, but it’s got some serious blemishes right now and serious deficiencies,” Dayton said.

Premiums for 250,000 Minnesotans, or 5 percent of the population, insured under MNsure will skyrocket by 50 percent or more on some health plans.

“The governor ate some crow today,” Larry Jacobs said.

The political analyst and professor at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs called the governor’s admission a major concession.

“The governor has come out and said, ‘You’re right, we’ve got to go back to the drawing board,’” Jacobs said.

Republicans have long criticized the plan.

“It is a crisis situation,” House Speaker Kurt Daudt said.

Daudt added this isn’t a time to place blame but instead to put politics aside.

“I think it’s a good step that the governor is now admitting that most Minnesotans can’t afford this and I think that’s a good first step to us now being able to work together to take some action to fix this so that we can find a solution that will get Minnesotans the health coverage they need at a cost they can afford,” Daudt said.

Dayton did say there are things that can be done on the state and federal level to fix the problem. He alluded to talking more in-depth about the state’s approach early next week.

Well Duh? Do you think? Hey Clown Mark, now that you finally figured it out, how about some action!!!! And while you are at it, let’s get reimbursements back to the middle class working peeps that have paid enormous amounts of premiums, with health programs that have thousands of dollars in annual deductible and after deductible an unaffordable out of pocket expense!!! If you can get the nurses to vote on a proposal you certainly are able to do this. What do you say?!!!! Who is with me on this???

    1. lysolmotorola says:

How is it that a man so f*ing stupid as to not see this coming before the law was passed gets to be governor. Or even dog catcher.

      1. OldOllie says:

Stupid Democrat voters. any more questions?

        1. nope only info voters would elec and relect him & obama and support HRC

      2. Johnn Galtt says:

HOW in the he11 do you get a name like “lysolmotorola?” Sorry- I just HAD to ask.

        1. RandomProductCombination says:

          Windextmobile was taken?

    2. WillB says:

You forgot about the huge copay to go along with the huge premiums and huge deductibles.

    3. t says:

Those aren’t premiums remember, Roberts said they were Taxes

      1. Steven Koch says:

Yep, taxes…and they are just as efficiently and effectively spent as all taxes by the feds. Tax and spend, tax and spend..

    4. fursd burfull says:

the whole of congress should be jailed for treason for not doing their jobs, no one not one read the obungle cost bucks plan no one and like nancy-t-imbecile stated you have to vote for the bill to see what is in the bill.for that statement alone she should have been removed from the freedoms we fought and lost a leg for. My whole take on congress R&D is GOD DAMN the whole lot of them

      1. In all fairness, only the DimocRats should really suffer. Not one single Republican voted for this disaster because a) there was too information to absorb before it was shoved before the Christmas holidays (and you can thank Nancy “We need to pass it before we read it” Pelosi for that and b) the Republicans TOLD everyone the plan was unworkable and unsustainable.

You can thank Republican Marco Rubio, though. He caught the very small print writing where Obama had promised all of the large insurance companies to “bail them out” if they started bleeding money. Had Rubio not caught that, Obama would have used more tax payer money to provide a “TARP” of sorts for the insurance companies.

      2. Hey, while the whole Congress? Not one Repub voted for the Bill. In fact they were not allowed behind the closed door meetings. If your healthcare costs are going to run up 50%, either vote for Hillary so your cost will go down but your taxes will rise. Plus your service will likely decline. Think Canada or Brtain

        Or vote for Trump.

    5. Carson Randolph says:

I think the democrats should have to keep their obama care. A plain penalty for being stupid. But that won’t happen. I wish it were a law they’d have to pay every premium and every co pay till they go broke and go into poverty. That is the value of their stupidity. And the want to elect more of it.

    6. Proudly Unaffiliated says:

ObamaCollapseCare is supported by Hillary. Trump is the only answer to end this disaster. Vote accordingly.

  2. Andy says:

Yeah… For my family of 3, I was paying about:
$4k for the year for premiums in 2013.
$8k for the year for premiums in 2015.
$12k for the year for premiums in 2016.
$12k for the year for premiums in 2016.
$19k for the year for premiums in 2017. Plus a new baby which will kick it to $25k for 2017!!!!

This will be 1/3 of my gross income, and that means I am not eligible for subsidies, but how I am supposed to come up with that much for insurance! If I decide to skip insurance, then I will be on the hook for $8k to $10k in fines. This is the craziest system ever imagined. Oh yeah, that doesn’t count the deductibles either!

Thanks to all the politicians for this!

    1. MarkJ says:

You don’t need to thank all the politicians for the Obamacare fiasco.

      Just the Democrats.

    2. gwsjr425 says:

Let’s not generalize here Andy. Just say who’s responsible. The ones that passed it…..DEMOCRATS.

    3. Just keep your old plan…..duh.

    4. Lar Jam says:

“You can keep your Doctor you can keep your Plan…the average American will see his rates drop at least $2500 per family” The average Democrat voter has no clue when they are being lied to. Someone lied to them saying socialism works but every single one that has tried it cries bankrupt

    5. Auntie Vyris says:

Andy, you should check out Liberty Health Share . com Save a boatload of money, have great coverage, and comply with oblammocare. Just a friendly heads-up, I have no financial interest in them.

    6. stephen brown says:

NO !!…thank all DUMBORAT Politicians..NOT ONE REPUBLICAN VOTED FOR THIS DISASTER…The Democrat idiots own this problem.

    7. Kurt Smith says:

“Thanks to all the politicians for this!” ALL the politicians!? ALL? Spoken like a true dumbocrat!

    8. nELLIE b says:

      Oh, no you don’t.

Not one Republican voted for this. Not one!

It is squarely on the backs of Pelosi, Obama and Reid.

      1. Andy says:

I do squarely place the blame on the democrats, for creating this horrid law. However, when one of Paul Ryan’s first acts as S.O.T.H. was to roll over and give Obama everything he wanted budget wise, and not fight it a bit (and the Senate passed it too), then I blame Republicans for not fighting. That is why I blame all politicians, and I believe the Convention of States is our only way out of this mess.

    9. Kathy Katie says:

DEMOCRATS OWN THIS! NOT ONE Republican voted for Obamacare! This is wholly owned by the democrat party! We tried to tell you, but you wouldn’t listen. And you didn’t support us when we tried to get rid of it- 50 times! Now…it looks like Clinton may give you another 8 years of suffering. Some people never, ever learn!

    10. chezleigh says:

sux to be you. Regards to Al Franken when you see him.

    11. Metoo says:

If you voted for Dems in Congress and/or for President, you voted for your high premiums, which were predicted by honest politicians (but not the Dems). If not, I feel your pain because I am also paying through the nose for very little. When will the electorate wake up and realize that Dems lie more often than not? I am a former Dem but learned long time ago that they are liars and stopped voting for them.

  3. gwsjr425 says:

“no longer” would imply that obamacare was once affordable. It has NEVER been affordable. If it were, there would be no need for subsidies.

  4. Bob Litfin says:

Gov. Dayton should have his B#lls cut off but he doesn’t have any

    1. Carol says:

Yeah, he’s so out of touch…..can’t wait until he admits he’s wrong about letting so many unvetted muslims into our state! I’m still waiting for an apology from his remark “If you as MN don’t like it, you can leave” He’ll go down as the worst governor this state has ever seen!

  5. Miss Speller says:

    It never was affordable.

  6. imagine that says:

Who could of seen this coming? And there are people who will still vote for Hillary, Paul Ryan and others who either supported this law or voted to continue to fund it.

    1. Joe Snow says:

Wrong. Paul Ryan never supported. All dems did. Think about that when you vote for President.

      1. Greg Green says:

The last budget Ryan and McConnell passed fully funded Obamacare. He may have been against it in the past, but when he funds it he owns it. He’s done nothing to stop any of obamas programs.

    2. t says:

Not a single Republican voted for Obozocare, it was a scam from the start. Blame the corrupt Demoncrat politicians for this mess when you go to the voting booth

  7. Todd P says:

Go ahead, Democrats, run on this in 2016: Higher premiums. Higher prescription prices. Outrageous deductibles. Restricted choice of physicians. Fewer hospitals covered. Technicians performing exams instead of physicians.More people thrown off insurance plans than signed up for Obamcare. 30 MILLION still uninsured after full implementation of ACA……

  8. And yet they will still vote for Hillary. Like lemmings leaping a cliff. The elites are laughing all the way to the bank. What a sad country we have become; open borders and all.

    1. Joe Snow says:

Yup the blind leading the blinder

  9. Craig Hobson says:

It was designed to fail, to usher in single payer.

  10. Sukie Tawdry says:

    How does one “fix” Obamacare?

    1. redruffansore says:

You make the world not care about Obama.

  11. Ron says:

gee what brought the oh so wise gov to that conclusion. My family rates have gone from $900/mo in 2014 to next year an astounding $$2300/mo!!!

    1. Bayou Castine says:

How can you possibly afford that kind of increase???? That would sink me and my family.

  12. Sean says:

    Well that didn’t take long

  13. redruffansore says:

It was never affordable you moron, it was a scam to force single payer. ObamaFail has always been about fail. Cloward and Piven, Alinsky…geez Skippy, did you sleep through your communist indoctrination class?

  14. gunnyginalaska says:

It is working out just like he and his fellow Dems wanted!

  15. mike madison says:

    hey mark, welcome to 2010.

  16. busseja says:

You mean Trump was right Gov? Or is this just a pitch to tax more to pay for the unaffordable.

  17. Troy Dynes says:

It was never affordable. Dayton is just lamenting they cannot get someone else to pay for it.

  18. Hay Markie, welcome to reality. Here’s a hint: We already knew that. You can do the world a favor by resigning now.

  19. Sagesteve says:

And the Republicans told you this from the very beginning!!! It WILL collapse under its own weight…Period!

  20. Obamacare was not a transfer of wealth it was a transfer in insurance where they take the insurance from the working class and give it to the government dependents

    1. Jason Stone says:

The myriad new taxes would suggest a transfer of wealth and income. In fact, it screams out redistribution.

  21. Jason Stone says:

Dayton you’re a wooden headed ID10T. You supported the bill, you didn’t read the bill, and you got the bill enacted into law. Putz.

    1. Carol says:

No one read it Jason. Even Congress said they didn’t read the 1014 something pages. Gotta love the dems. Clueless!

  22. JOner says:

No offense but where has he been? It NEVER was affordable for anyone who works even a lower middle class job, even less for those solidly in the middle class. The premiums were not affordable, and the deductibles and out of pocket limits were outrageous from the very beginning. I know, because I had to wade through all that wretched info, and it was NOT affordable. The only good thing is Medicaid expansion, in the states that did it.

  23. John Stettner says:

Don’t be fooled again. This was the plan all along. The Liberal modus operandi is Incrementalism. The Affordable Care Act has eviscerated the entire Health Care System of the United States, not just Insurance, but actual care provided by Hospitals and the quantity and quality of the Medical Profession. Fewer people are going into Medical Degree programs than ever before. The Liberals planned this. They knew it would happen. They wanted it to happen, so that Government could “solve” the problem by completely taking over Health Care.

If Hillary wins this election, it will be carte blanche to make all Health Insurance and Care a function of the Federal Government. The brass ring for Democrats = Socialized Medicine.

  24. immafubared says:

The state wanted to have the most fabulous handouts possible knowing the poor and disenfranchise shop around and sure enough for 20 years they flocked here for the good times. Now that the bill on Ocare is costing the state big money, too bad. These disenfranchises aint leaving any time soon.

  25. Hey, come on, stop all the whining. Didn’t you Minnesotans vote for Obama? And you voted for Franken as one of your Senators. You get what you vote for!
So who did you think was going to pay for all the subsidies being dished out to low income immigrants, and the other Democratic base voters? Think Obamacare is costly? Wait unit you have to pay for “free” DemoCollege.

  26. Bill Williams says:

    democRats did this to us.

  27. I want a waiver and my old plan back!

    1. Curly Bill says:

Every single person who voted D-Party is responsible for this. In fact, voting D-Party is now per se an act of treason.

  28. Ozzonelayyer says:

    Color me surprised.

  29. Katie says:

The Dem plan to force everyone onto the gubmnt Health Plan is working just fine. Insurers will be out of business, the few doctors that are left will be working for piece-meal, and if you like the lines at the POST OFFICE, you’ll just LOVE waiting for healthcare in America.

  30. Contra Ventus says:

  32. lapd22981 says:

Democratic Governor………….say no more……..No wait, Dayton should resign immediately

  33. Booger says:

I want all of my premium increases back as well as my $2500 obama promised. And I want it NOW!!!!

  34. Hitlery says:

Everyone here needs to stop aligning with political parties and placing blame on Democrats alone. ObamaCare is based on RomneyCare which was a Republican invention – the only solutions is to literally vote out every politician that is currently serving. Fully reset the entire leadership of this country so we can start arresting and hanging the criminals responsible for this scam and the destruction of our liberty.

    1. Bad Tequila says:

      LOL! The Democrats own this.

Not a single Republican voted for Obamacare in either house of Congress. They warned everyone who would listen that this would never work, but were called racists and “anti-American.”

Unfortunately, the entire country now is reaping what you Grubers have sown.

  35. Gerald Holland says:

A Clinton campaign email released as part of the Wikileaks data dump earlier today talks about the need to maintain political power by producing “an unaware and compliant citizenry”.

The email was sent to Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta by former Clinton administration official Bill Ivey on March 13, 2016.

“And as I’ve mentioned, we’ve all been quite content to demean government, drop civics and in general conspire to produce an unaware and compliant citizenry,” he writes.

“The unawareness remains strong but compliance is obviously fading rapidly. This problem demands some serious, serious thinking – and not just poll driven, demographically-inspired messaging.”
To emphasize, Ivey admits that the left has ‘conspired’ to “produce an unaware and compliant citizenry” but that they’re not as easy to manipulate anymore and that this is a problem. He characterizes “unawareness” amongst the public as a positive thing for the Clinton campaign.

The email is a shocking insight into the elitist and arrogant mindset that pervades the Clinton campaign, with Americans viewed as dumb sheep who need to be herded in the right direction.

  36. “And you can keep your doctor” Nothing is for free, especially if its from the government. Now what are people to do, emergency room anybody?

  37. Huh. Now who could of predicted that? Oh, that’s right: Every Republican in the country! We told you! Well, at least now you know what;s in the bill you passed: Unaffordable coverage with sky-high deductibles.

  38. There is no fixing the PPACA. If Clinton is elected we go to single payer which will make the PPACA look like a gift. Yank this law out by the hair, NOW!

  39. Gene German says:

Even the three year old son of the town idiot knew this was going to happen.

The democrats jammed through a 2,000 plus page law no one had read or understood that took government control over 16% of our economy.

With apologies to the Kingston Trio and to Thomas Paine, these are the times that try men’s souls.

In the course of our nation’s history, the American people have rallied bravely, whenever the Rights of Man have been threatened.

Today a new crisis has arisen — the launch of OhBummerCare — a poisonous gift from Barak Bait-And-Switch OhBummer and his confederacy of schmucks. And where are the Republicans?

They are dithering. They are candles in the wind. They flicker in one direction, and then another — and there are less kind observations now afoot, across the fruited plain.

The Republicans cannot find their bums, with both hands and a flashlight.

They keep their cojones locked in a bank vault — although if they were valuable to Republicans, you’d think that they’d take them out for a spin, once in awhile, now wouldn’t you?

When asked how best to destroy the Soviet communist dictatorship, novelist and Nobel Prize winner Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn replied, “Don’t lie.” The corollary of that injunction is, “Tell the truth.”

You can keep your plan and your doctor if you want to? You’ll save on average $2,500 per year in premiums?

Any such fraud in private industry would land the perpetrator in the prison — and good riddance to him, too. But OhBummer is armed and dangerous.

This is a gangster government, of Barak Bait-And-Switch OhBummer, and the OhBummer Wrecking Crew.

This is a dictatorship. If Republicans fail to smite it a mighty blow, then they are cowardly and worthless.

Did I leave anything out? For what do we need the Republicans, if they will not fight?

For now, just fund everything except OhBummerCare and let the Democrats shut down the government.

It does not matter that the fascist Democrat-captured media will lie and blame the Republicans.

The Democrats always lie. Lies, after all, are the heart and soul and the sword and shield of the Democrat party.

To the Senate or House Republican I say this. “Be a man. Drive a wooden stake through the heart of OhBummerCare.

“The vast majority of the American people do not want OhBummerCare — so be a Happy Warrior — and kill it.”

Maybe we should have read the bill before we passed the bill… Oh wait, this was a Democrat controlled House, Senate, and Whitehouse. It was going to happen no matter what. No public debate would be allowed.

  44. Churyl Minne says:

Well of course…. but MN will still vote D anyway. Somehow when stupid, bad things happen it is never a democrats’s fault. It has to be the big, bad, nasty R’s taking something away. Obamacare was never about affordable anything. It was about breaking a relatively good system that worked for the vast majority of the US population so that eventually a single payer system would have to be instituted as the ONLY alternative.

  45. Alan says:

I am absolutely stunned by the lack of democrats on this forum today. What….nothing to say? All your bragging a few years ago about this stupid law and how you all won. I hope you realize now how incredibly stupid you all look. Doesn’t matter though…you will still vote for Hillary and not learn one thing.

  46. Jules says:

Obama et al have set up “Obamacare” to fail from the start with the goal of defaulting to a Single Payer system. Search Obama’s speeches on the subject on YouTube.
“I happen to be a proponent for the single payer universal healthcare plan. That’s what I’d like to see.” 2003, Obama speaking at an AFL-CIO function.

Under a Universal system, the Government will essentially own your healthcare through total control of payments. I suppose that means Doctors then become quasi-employees of the healthcare system, just as they are now for Medicare-Medicaid patients. It also means that you are at the mercy of some bureaucratic agency as to whether a procedure is a valid investment for the government…or not.

  47. Albert G says:

Plus… even if you have insurance, it’s not the same as getting medical care. The deductions and the premiums mean a lot of people will avoid medical care all together. Hence, the growth of the strip mall medical clinics.

As a CYA, they had the most liberal states build their own exchanges, in case nationally forcing people to buy insurance was declared unconstitutional. This way, they still would have an option to force single payer in many states. So we not only helped to pay for the failed federal exchange, but we also paid well over 150M for a state exchange and will continue to pay for our own exchange and the federal exchange for as long as they both are active.

  77. William Lund says:

He wants congress to fix. Wait a second it was the liberals who passed this law. Congress doesn’t have to do anything.

  78. dogsrock2 says:

Now, now. When Hillary is elected it will all be fixed. First she’s going to fix the climate so we never have hurricanes again. Next up she will be talking to all the white peple and tell them to stop being racist. THEN she is going to fix that pesky bill that every democrat voted for. Be patient people the govt is going to fix it all.

  79. Constance Underfoot says:

The idiot Gov. wants Congress to “fix it?”

Insurance companies are losing hundreds of $millions, people are paying double, and the deductibles make people skip being treated altogether.

Fix it? How? Charge more, or lose more? Or, maybe Obama giving it free to all those that can’t pay is the problem, like the 20 Million illegal aliens.

  80. Joe E in the IE says:

Now we know what set off the “Well, DUH!” alarm.

  81. Kurt Smith says:

Libs dig themselves into cesspools of trouble and misery all the time, and sadly, they usually take everyone down with them. But I have never seen them – ever – actually be able to look back and honestly and accurately realize how they got themselves in that cesspool. Apparently a total lack of hindsight (and reality?) is just another symptom of this mental illness we call lib. Sad and tragic.

  82. "new" ain't necessarily better says:

What kind of silliness is this? obongocare NEVER WAS “affordable”. Who didn’t know that?

  83. fred says:

Dayton is a jerk. He recently condemned those who called the mall shooter a terrorist. This man is a reactionary leftist who doesn’t understand the theocratic roots of Islam and is more concerned about the feelings of Muslims than he is about the safety of Americans. Minnesota has given us some of the most retrograde politicians in recent memory-the clown Senator Franken a self hating Jew and that moron Keith Elllison who recently condemned all Trump supporters as anti-semites (untrue) and called any criticism of Muslms racist. Disgusting

  84. Wharfplank says:

    Leftwingers don’t know s*** about business…except that they’re evil.

  85. Onetermanandout says:

I have a small business and I pay for health care for 21 employees. My premiums increased $61,000/yr on 1/1/2014 due to obamascare, for the same coverage we had for 24 years. Someone had to pay for all the non payers and I was one of the ones who had to pay. My employees had to go 2 years without raises so the company could start to recover from such a giant hit.
Of course, premiums have still risen 12 to 15%/yr since then.

  86. Mike J says:

0-care is as honest as Shrillary, yet millions of you will be voting for the lying beast. You get what you vote for.

  87. Naturally, the Marxism loving left, facing the predicted failure of obongocare, are seeking more hard earned taxpayer money to plug in the huge losses. It is a colossal failure, as all people with brains predicted. But the socialist-democrat party dog vomit is still trying to save this completely failed piece of legislative puke. BULLETIN: Socialism always fails, always! Obongocare is no exception, in fact, it is just another lesson in why your parents were right. Socialism never works.

  88. Hugh Janus says:

    Liberalism is a terrible sickness

  89. hitrestart1 says:

My premiums have have more than doubled since the mandate of ObamaCare, my out-of-pocket expenses have doubled, while my coverage has been cut in half plus I’ve lost 2 out of 3 of my doctors.

Forcing people to buy insurance was, is and always will be an act of lawlessness and utterly devoid of humanity.

  90. StandingO says:

This is the beginning of Hillary’s drum-beat leading up to her pivot on Obama and “new health care plan” which will be the second coming of her “single payer plan” (i.e. complete government takdover) that she could not sell in 1994. I guess the Dems figure they have effed up the country enough by now that “single payer” won’t get resistance. Who will be the new Phil Gramm?

  91. “We have to pass this [pile of stinking camel sh|t fraught with lies] so we can find out what’s in it”
    – Stupid leathered CVNT, Pelosi

  92. Eric Jones says:

Why is anybody surprised that Obamacare is a failure? It was hatched by Democrats! What do they EVER do that works?

  93. UncleJoe says:

Everything is going according to plan. Obamacare fails, so we need universal health care,

Oh wait, its Minnesota. Nobody there saw that coming.

  94. ploome says:

Meet Jonathan Gruber, a professor at MIT and an architect of Obamacare. During a panel event last year about how the legislation passed, turning over a sixth of the U.S. economy to the government, Gruber admitted that the Obama administration went through “tortuous” measures to keep the facts about the legislation from the American people, including covering up the redistribution of wealth from the healthy to the sick in the legislation that Obamacare is in fact a tax. The video of his comments just recently surfaced ahead of the second open enrollment period for Obamacare at

“You can’t do it political, you just literally cannot do it. Transparent financing and also transparent spending. I mean, this bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes. If CBO scored the mandate as taxes the bill dies. Okay? So it’s written to do that,” Gruber said. “In terms of risk rated subsidies, if you had a law which said that healthy people are going to pay in, you made explicit healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it would not have passed. Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really really critical to get for the thing to pass. Look, I wish Mark was right that we could make it all transparent, but I’d rather have this law than not.”

  95. Have you read about independent Evan McMullin’s plan for healthcare reform? It includes tax credits for those who do not have insurance through an employer, allows the purchase of health insurance across state lines and encourages the use of Health Care Savings Acounts. See more at

  96. usathoughts says:

Affordable Care? How would like to be a 64 year old woman, work part time at a Farmers Gin, Net $760.00 monthly. ACA – Monthly insurance, $702 dollars. Deductible, $6,500 dollars.

Idiot in charge says “Tax Credit”. Against what? Linda does not make enough to pay Income Tax.

There are millions in this situation. Hillary says there are 20 million now insured because of the ACA program. True enough but it is the 60 million net tax payers that provide it. What about Linda and all the others? To be fair should not the tax payer help her?

What about the Tax Payer? Millions will no longer have the money to save for retirement. Many will have to reduce their living standards. Why should they suffer to pay for a strangers insurance?

  97. No policy, you will find is affordable if initiated by Obama and his cabal of criminals.

  98. Dj says:

    There is NO fixing it.

Start over with market based solutions rather than obamas trickle down tyranny.

  99. kevin says:

Were it not for the historical coincidence that Mark Dayton’s great-grandfather was an expert at selling women’s undergarments, Mark Dayton today would live in a group home and ride the short bus to a sheltered workshop. While riding the bus he would slowly lick the windows because the cool feeling of the glass would calm him.

    1. jeff says:

Nice theory.. Lets not rule it out.

  100. Rob says:

But we have a shiny new stadium.
Wilf is richer and the taxpayers poorer.

We are building inefficient trains that no intelligent person wants.

We are making sure boys can use the girl’s bathroom.

So liberals are doing SOME good……right?

  101. jameswlee2014 says:

What?!?!? Are you saying that a government take over of a private industry isn’t working? Well, THIS certainly comes as a surprise.

  102. cabrerski says:

How about the Democrats stay out of the sandbox because they do not have the intelligence nor the intent to fix this thing. The whole scam was created to get to this point, hoping America would embrace single payer.

I suggest those who created the mess…and there are plenty to go around…pay for it out of their own pockets and let the taxpayer breathe a little easier. I understand the Clinton Foundation has a surplus they stole from Haiti relief efforts.

  103. LefyLiberal says:

Impeach Dayton. He wasted a ton of MN tax payer money on this fiasco that could have been better used for some other critical social program. What a waste! Impeach. Impeach. Impeach.

  104. J.J.Kitts says:

Well, surprise surprise!!! A Dim wakes up and smells the coffee. Wishes & lies are easy. Facts & truth are hard.

  105. jason says:

Obamacare was never intended to provide healthcare…just health coverage.

  106. enzoharrison says:

Unaffordable?!?! Well now who saw that coming? Maybe the majority of the country that opposed this abomination.

Hillary, Nancy, and the Dems want government run single-payer…what about you, governor? Which is it? Even bigger government or free markets?

  107. Iron says:

You should pay attention to laws when the are written. It was designed this way to eliminate blow-back until Obama leaves office and after the 2016 elections. Why did you think Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi wanted the bill passed without a reading?

  108. James Carson says:

    Duh. #YATHINK? What an idiot.

  109. joes4567 says:

yeah, we’ll fix it. more debt to subsidize even more. higher deductibles and co-payments. lower the reimbursement rates to the providers so that there will be fewer and less competent providers. but no matter, because more people will be insured. the insurance will be worthless, but they will be insured. europe and america fast on the track to socialistic mediocrity.

  110. Joe says:

Who do I see about getting my vision back in my right eye–I’ve never been able to afford both a doctor visit and my rent and foolishly paid my rent instead of become homeless? Who’s going to replace the four teeth I’ve lost due to no affordable coverage? When Obama took office I was middle class. Now I’m hanging on trying not to be homeless from month to month.
No Democrat will ever be more than an acquaintance to me since no Friend of mine would have done this to me. I will never forgive them.
Please, for God’s sake, vote for Donald Trump.

  111. Anthony says:

What is the solution that provides coverage for those who want it and keeps costs under control?

  112. edbarbar says:

I suppose a lot of people like all the things that are “free” but cost someone a lot of money. Keep your kids on your policy until they are 26. No lifetime cap on coverage. No pre-existing conditions. And, let’s try to force the young people to sign up for it and pay for everyone else. As if we haven’t saddled the young with enough problems.

  113. Proudly Unaffiliated says:

I was waiting for the day when a mainstream, major Dem finally caved and told the truth about the failure of ObamaCare. It has been obvious for years but now they are hard up against the collapse. Wonder if America will get the message soon enough to elect Trump, let’s hope so.

  114. Sam Dennis says:

The Progressives never intended Obamacare to work…..they want to destroy the private medical insurance industry and intentionally loaded the Affordable Care Act with so much bureaucratic nonsense in an,attempt to regulate ALL of the Healthcare Industry and go to a Single Payer system with the federal government in charge.

  115. Jimmy Chonga says:

Surprise, surprise, surprise . . . another piece of Lousy legislation tied 100% to the criminal syndicate known as the democrat party. Whoda figured? Hint: Over 70% of the American Population were ADAMANTLY AGAINST IT.

  116. Gene Smith says:

This stupid governor is a minor player. You can thank Buckwheat O’BowelMovement and his henchmen in the congress for this debacle. O’BowelMovement should be arrested as he has intentionally trashed and ruined this country. I would love to see Killary Klinton and her rapist husband die in prison.

  117. freddyJmshadt says:

It was designed to fail and they hoped a democrat would be in the WH so they could enforce single payer govt run corruption.

  118. Tomas Cora says:

Spending one billion on the Obaminationcare website and billions more on state websites was the first clue it wasn’t going to work..

  119. Cletus says:

We told you… we told you… we told you, but for some odd reason you still believe in unicorns and fairy farts…

  120. Some get “it” immediately while others take a while. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was dead on arrival. Only problem was that the Democrats didn’t know it because they were pandering to those without health insurance and those with pre-existing conditions.

We now have a situation where 20+ million uninsured are now insured either with a government subsidy (paid for by taxpayers) or under Medicaid (government freebie paid for by taxpayers).

For those who previously had health insurance, their premiums and deductibles went up while their coverage went down.

The insurance companies went along with this Ponzi scheme because the government guaranteed their losses for the first few years. Now that the government will no longer cover their losses, they are screaming like stuck pigs and raising their premiums.

Where’s Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi when you need them? Oh right, they are campaigning for Hillary who supported ACA.

  121. Tex Taylor says:

Dayton is right. There are things at the state and federal level that can be done to fix the problems. Like taking more from the working to subsidize.

Governmental theft by another name…More Hope & Change…

  122. Melodee says:

I haven’t had insurance since June 1st because my husband has retired and his income is now above what the income is for 2 people. I only make 550-750 a month a Target. We have decided to get a divorce after 26 yrs so I can get insurance. He is covered under his Union but no spouses are. I need medical attention but I can’t afford to go since I have NO insurance. ObamaCare Sucks.

  123. kbworkman says:

We’re no supposed to be surprised are we?

  124. JIM says:

  125. Fred Mertz says:

Conservatives told you lefty nitwits eight years ago that this was going to be a disaster. How is it possible that tens of millions of us saw it, but not one of you did??!!!
Here’s a clue: the answer involves the word “STUPID”!!!

  126. noodle says:

Obama care is what in years past was called a “catastrophic only” plan, at Cadillac plan prices.

Though Obama lies and claims “millions are insured”, the overwhelming majority of those on Obama care lost better, lower cost plans they had previously. The number of freeloaders who previously were uninsured who are now getting it for free is close to the number who were previously covered who now no longer have coverage. The net change in the number of uninsured is claimed to be about one million, about one third of one percent of the US population.
In other words, the hundreds of billions in costs to theAmerican people barely moved the needle.

  127. Al says:

If this isn’t the time for blame, when is? We all said this would happen and they refused to listen and believed this would fix it. It made everything worse. Now they want to fix it more, which translates to make it even worse. Get these idiots out of business decisions.

  128. Truth says:

Socialism is death and destruction. The globalists are lying, looting socialists. Death and destruction is inevitable if America continues to reject truth and embrace globalism and socialism.

  129. Only the most brain-dead didn’t see this coming.

  130. Melodee says:

Is it really the politicians on both sides to stop the insurance issues/problems? I am really tired of the issues, but how do we help the low and average family these days? They are looking wearing the guidelines so families can’t get insurance like my hubby and I as Seniors!

  131. bluesdoc70 says:

    Really?…You mean Gruber was lying?

  132. maroon says:

That’s how Obama got re elected in 2012… If you like your plan you can keep your plan, average plan to go down $2500, period. Yet the voices of reason screaming, no, it will be a disaster, were silenced, with cries of Romney had a dog on his car, or teased someone in high school, and has a binder full of women. And remember that s l u t had to have someone else pay for her birth control. I hope the people in Minnesota are awake this election, and not total Grubers!

  133. MidwestNorsk says:

Mark Dayton and every democRAT supporting it when it was enacted should all be lined up and EXECUTED.

  134. freddyJmshadt says:

Obamacare never was affordable. It was all built on 100% lies.

  135. I-DEFY says:

Told ya so! Liberalism fails again. I have already seen on some other message boards about this where liberals are blaming republicans for letting this turd of Barry’s, that wont hold a polish, rot on the vine. I knew it would come to this, no republicans voted for it but the liberal base blames them for its failure. Being a liberal is great, you never have to take responsibility for anything!

  136. aubreyfarmer says:

We have been Gruber-ed and the grubering isn’t finished yet. The .001% have congress in their pocket and we in turn have lost any influence we had. Proof of this is Commies on the Supreme Court (Breyer, Ginsburg, Kagan, Sotomayor all Jews) handed down rulings like the Affordable Care Act is a “tax” and corporations in Citizens United have the same rights as people. I don’t even recognize America anymore. America is now more Judaic than it is Christian. Imagine what a Clinton presidency and one more Jew on the Supreme Court will mean for the 2nd Amendment.

  137. JOE M says:

Somebody is going to be getting a nasty phone call from obama and then maybe a few years of auditing from the IRS because of telling the truth.

  138. msiekierski says:

Bets that the solution will be Single Payer?

  139. Who DIDN’T see this coming? Anyone who can’t do simple math.
It was planned failure from the start, Single payer/Socialized Medicine has always been the goal.
Progressives hate America and Patriotic Americans. The time for revolution has come.

  140. Kary says:

I lost my excellent doctor, my truly affordable private health care plan and gave the government $1200.00 in penalties to waste because THEY caused my health care plan to be cancelled and I didn’t sign up for the Unaffordable Obamacare. Thanks DEMOCRAT LIBS.

  141. Muldoon says:

Crow is a dish best served cold.

  142. Emm Are Kay says:

Who is really surprised…everything a Liberal touches turns to *hit. Obummer is the worse President in the history of America.

  143. This is by design, folks. It’s all part of a grand scheme to usher in single payer.

  144. Trump 2016 says:

Liberal, the only word that truly describes epic failure.

  145. Dayton spread his arms and invited all of the foreigners into our State. The taxpayers can afford to cover every welfare program offered to them health, food, housing. Come to MN we are so generous to support how many thousands now from Somalia and all of Obama’s misfits from the Muslim Countries.

  146. TruthWins says:

i am sure he would have waited for this to be said AFTER the election if he could but with open enrollment out now he had to address to Warn the folks….WATCHOUT PREMIUM ALERT!!

heres a national article on this..

  147. Leon Moe says:

    Eat that Crow guvna!

  148. Bud Smith says:

    Dayton needs on GO!!!
He said the buck stops with him years ago in relation to the failed we site and MNSURE.

Ok Dayton, we await your resignation.

  149. Kally Waters says:

Remember what it cost to build and support the web site? $390,000,000 We could have taken care of a lot of people with that money!

  150. mark kaiser says:

I’ve paid $250k in premiums to BCBS for a family of 5 over the past 10 years. $5k deductible. Never once made a claim. This summer my 42 year old wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. Two weeks later we receive a letter from BCBS that our plan will be dropped 1/17 and no other plan is offered yet to date. Those who had health insurance no longer do. Everything they touch turns to Dayton! Oh, and we have to pay $843k in Federal Income taxes this year too. No health insurance for us though! Only the people that don’t pay any taxes get that….

  151. On the other hand, the “stupid Americans” who supported it… are still stupid.

  152. Kally Waters says:

So Governor Goofy Dayton, if we do not like this MNSure stuff should we just leave Minnesota.
Or maybe just have some more of them Paul Bunion blue ox MNSure commercials, that’ll get em’.

  153. Kally Waters says:

All you Democrats saying how great it is the government is helping people with health insurance… and don’t give me the line about how many more are insured as it is get insurance at these rip off prices or get fined…dah remember?

  154. Kevin Curl says:

How can now not be the time to blame ? Because them Dem’s forced it down the throats of the American People without one Republican voting for it and done in overnight partisan vote .

  155. Wanda says:

Whenever politicians sing the praises of 20 million new enrollments in the “affordable” healthcare, I wonder how many of those are actually re-enrollments meaning they had coverage before but the were pushed out of that plan due to elevated costs. Everyone tries to get there money to go as far as it can and dangle a “subsidy” carrot in-front of the MNsure – of course people will try to get it. Before this “Affordable” penalize you plan- MN had Medicaid (no income), MNSure (low income), Insurance and MN Comprehensive health (people with health issues) options – you could get insurance if you wanted it….people who didn’t want to pay the (now dreamy premiums) didn’t. They could’ve enhance or changed that program. Last year I wrote to Dayton when my insurance doubled & got a canned letter singing the praises of the subsidy… which I just missed the guideline….so change network to a narrow network to save costs – suffered thru using my savings, cutting my household expenses tv, shuffling payments etc now I get another huge 55% increase. I can’t do it – now looks like we’ll be uninsured. The reason the other politicians didn’t promote it – maybe thy actually read the behemoth of a bill.

  156. Creative article – I learned a lot from the analysis ! Does anyone know if my business could possibly get a sample USCIS I-134 form to fill in ?
