Millennials Spend Nearly Half Food Budget On Eating Out
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- How much money do you spend on eating out? A new survey shows millennials are spending quite a bit.
The Food Institute analyzed U.S. Department of Agriculture data and found that millennials spend about 44 percent of their food dollars on eating out.
That's about $2,900 every year, or about 10 percent more than the last survey in 2010.
Baby boomers spend nearly as much: 40 percent on eating out.
According to reports, the restaurant portion of average food budgets was 34 percent in 1974, and had reached 50 percent in 2014.
