MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — It’s MEA week and that means many kids are off of school Thursday and Friday.
Here are some fun things to check out during the long weekend.
Grab your friends and family and head to Blaine for the biggest pumpkin giveaway in the Twin Cities.
On Sunday 10,000 pumpkins will be given away at the National Sports Center.
Along with a free pumpkin, listen to live music, enjoy food trucks and meet Nordy of the Minnesota Wild.
Spend MEA weekend at Mall of America’s Nickelodeon Universe.
Now through Halloween it has been transformed into a whimsical world filled with mischievous troublemaking pumpkins.
Check out seven pumpkin playgrounds and meet the scarecrow in charge.
This is the weekend to get ready for ski season!
The 9th annual Explore Minnesota Slopes Ski & Snowboard Expo returns to Mall of America’s rotunda on Friday and Saturday.
Visit the booths more than a dozen ski hills from around the state to get the best deals on season passes and lift tickets.
And stop by retailers to see the latest in equipment and fashions.
Students on MEA break can take advantage of extended hours of the Halloween Haunt at ValleySCARE.
It will now be open Thursday night!
For the younger kids – enjoy the not-as-scary Great Pumpkin Fest.
ValleySCARE is celebrating of the 50th anniversary of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!” Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 30.
Also because of MEA weekend, Sever’s Fall Festival is extending its hours.
This weekend Severs will be open: Thursday, Oct. 20: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 21: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
