Tap Talk: AHA Names Twin Cities As Top Area For Homebrewers

If our booming brewery scene isn't evidence enough, the American Homebrewers Association has now crowned the Minneapolis-St. Paul area as a top spot to learn brewing.

In honor of the upcoming Learn to Homebrew Day, the AHA put together a list of up-and-coming hot spots for homebrewers.

The Twin Cities was listed second, only behind Boise, Idaho.

According to the AHA, factors considered included economic impact, proximity to craft breweries, homebrew clubs and homebrew competitions.

Other hot spots included Nashville, Tenn.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Rochester, N.Y.; Tampa, Fla. And Windsor, Calif.

"Craft brewing and homebrewing have long supported one another: a thriving craft beer community nurtures a healthy, growing homebrew culture, and vice-versa," Gary Glass, director of the AHA said in a recent press release.

Learn To Homebrew Day 2016 will be celebrated on Nov. 5.

Several local breweries, from Vine Park in St. Paul to Thirsty Pagan in Superior, Wis., will be hosting events to celebrate homebrewers and teach others the craft.
