NASA's Widget & Interactive Map Make It Easier To See Space Station
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The International Space Station is a triumph of humanity that has been orbiting earth for 16 years. Now, NASA is making it easier for you to catch a glimpse of it zipping across the sky.
Earlier this year, NASA released a new widget (seen below) that notifies its users when the ISS is high enough in the sky to view.
According to NASA, the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, calculates the sighting information several times a week for more than 6,700 locations worldwide.
The widget below is set for Minneapolis, but you can set it for various cities in Minnesota and throughout the world.
There is also a new interactive map available from NASA called "Spot The Station", which allows users to type in their location and view sighting opportunities.
The ISS' trajectory passes over 90 percent of Earth's population and is the third brightest object in the sky. Good luck spotting it!
