Zimmer: Vikings To Work Out Kickers On Tuesday

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (WCCO) – Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Monday that the organization will bring in kickers to work out for the team on Tuesday in the wake of Blair Walsh missing an extra point and having a field goal blocked Sunday against the Lions.

It's the latest twist in the ups and downs Walsh has experienced this season.

Randy Bullock and Kai Forbath will be two of the kickers who will work out for the Vikings, a source told WCCO.

Bullock filled in for the suspended Josh Brown with the Giants in Week 1, converting two of three point-after attempts without attempting a field goal. He was 19-of-23 on field goals and 22-of-25 on PATs in 11 games with the Texans and Jets last season.

Forbath kicked in 11 games with the Redskins and Saints last season, converting 34-of-35 point after attempts and 10-of-15 field goals.

Asked the reasoning behind bringing in kickers to work out, Zimmer quipped, "You haven't been watching all year?"

He later elaborated.

"At some point in time, you have belief and confidence in guys because you know what they've done in the past," Zimmer said. "You know what they've done. We've missed three extra points this year, we've missed several field goals. The way our games are being played, they're probably going to come down to a lot of close games, I hope so at least anyway. We have to look at all avenues as far as what gives us the best opportunity to win football games."

Walsh is 12-of-16 on field goal attempts this season and 13-of-16 on PATs.
