DNR Closing French River Hatchery Near Duluth

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Department of Natural Resources is closing a trout hatchery used to restock Lake Superior.

The French River Hatchery near Duluth needs $8 million worth of upgrades. It currently uses 10 percent of the energy consumed by the DNR statewide.

The agency says it will use another hatchery to stock the lake in the meantime, due to the French River Hatchery being inefficient.
