Hooker Scores 17, North Dakota Beats Crown College 98-48

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Quinton Hooker scored 17 points, Corey Baldwin added 16 points and North Dakota had 15 steals in a 98-48 victory over Crown College on Friday.

North Dakota led 47-22 at the half and the Fighting Hawks quickly built a 30-point lead just two minutes into the second half to win their eighth straight season opener at home.

Drick Bernstine added 12 points and 10 rebounds for North Dakota, while Conner Avants had 13 points and nine rebounds. Newcomers Kienan Walter (nine points), Billy Brown (eight points), and Devon Pekas (seven points) all contributed.

North Dakota shot 52.2 percent from the field and held the Storm to only 31.3 percent. Hooker was named the Big Sky preseason MVP on Oct. 26 and was one of six guards voted to the preseason all-conference team.

Josh Volness led Crown College with nine points and six rebounds. The Storm also lost the only other matchup in the series during the 2012-13 season.
