IIHS Releases New Booster Seat Ratings

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Researchers from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety have said child booster seats are more effective than ever in keeping kids safe during a crash.

The IIHS reviewed 53 of the latest booster seat models and 48 of them received the highest rating, called a "best bet."

Only two seats received a "not recommended" rating – the Cosco Easy Elite and Cosco Highback 2-in-1 DX.

The three other booster seats that did not get a top rating got a grade called "check fit, "meaning they may work for some children in some vehicles.
