Sheriff's Office: Teen Dies After Crash On Icy Carlton Co. Road

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A teenage boy is dead after a crash on an icy road in Carlton County Friday.

According to the Carlton County Sheriff's Office, just after noon Friday 16-year-old Nathan Gould lost control of his black Ford Taurus on County Road 1 in Silver Brook Township.

Gould's vehicle collided with a Ford Escape driven by 29-year-old Julie Jacobson.

An ambulance transported Gould to Essentia Hospital in Duluth, where he later died from injuries received in the crash.

Jacobson received minor injuries. She had two children in the car with her, neither of which were injured.

The sheriff's office said seat belts and car seats were properly used by all parties. Road and weather conditions were the primary factors in the crash.
