MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – After a four-point weekend, University of Minnesota men’s hockey senior Vinnie Lettieri was named the Big Ten’s Second Star of the Week on Tuesday.

Lettieri led the league with four points over the weekend, with three of them coming on Sunday as the Gophers beat Boston College for Don Lucia’s 700th career win. Lettieri scored the game-winning goal and had an assist on the opening goal against the Eagles, just 34 seconds into the game.

Lettieri also had an assist on an empty-net goal to seal the win. He scored a goal in Friday’s lost at Northeastern.

In 12 games, Lettieri has six goals and six assists. The Gophers host Ohio State this weekend to open Big Ten play.
