Four Gophers Offensive Players Earn All-Big Ten Honors

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Four players on the offense for the University of Minnesota football team earned All-Big Ten honors, the league announced Wednesday.

Sophomore running back Rodney Smith and senior offensive lineman Jonah Pirsig were named Third Team All-Big Ten. Senior wide receiver Drew Wolitarsky was select Third Team All-Big Ten by the media, and sophomore running back Shannon Brooks was named honorable mention.

Smith led Minnesota with 1,084 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns, which led the Big Ten. The Gophers were 8-1 this year when he scored a touchdown, and he collected 1,477 all-purpose yards.

Wolitarsky led the Gophers in receiving with 61 receptions for 787 yards and five touchdowns. He has a reception in 25 straight games. Despite being injured much of the season, Brooks averaged 4.8 yards per carry and scored five touchdowns this season.

The Gophers will find out by Sunday what bowl game they'll be headed to.
