MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Students at Mounds View High School are coming together to remember two classmates killed in a car crash.

Juniors Bridget Giere and Stephanie Carlson died when the car they were in crashed on their way to school last Thursday. A third student, Samantha Redden was injured and remains hospitalized.

On Monday afternoon, buses brought students to the intersection in Arden Hills where it happened. One by one, the classmates gathered around a memorial for a moment of silence. They say today was about closure and remembering the lives of Bridget and Stephanie.

“They were very well loved by everyone,” student Paige Leiser said. “We want their families to know that they will be remembered here for a long time.”

Monday’s trip to the scene of the accident was done as a safe way for students to pay tribute to their friends. Memorial services for the two girls are this week.
