Animal Humane Society: 93 Animals Removed From Pine County Home

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Animal Humane Society is asking for the public's help after 93 animals were removed from a home in rural Pine County last month.

AHS says 79 dogs, eight cats, and six guinea pigs were removed from a couple's home in late November.

According to AHS, the couple could not provide adequate care for the growing number of animals, which were allowed to freely roam inside the home. That created unsanitary living conditions for both the animals and the couple.

"Once at AHS, the animals were examined and found to have varying degrees of health and social issues due to a lack of consistent medical care, poor socialization, and uncontrolled breeding," the AHS said.

A small number of animals were ready for adoption shortly after arriving at AHS, but the remaining animals still need some time to be ready for adoption.

Now, AHS says due to large groups of animals straining its resources, donations are being requested from the public in order to care for the animals.
