Veterans Group To Walk 'One Last Mile' For Jacob Wetterling

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Saturday, a veterans group will walk one last time to honor Jacob Wetterling.

The Anoka County Vietnam Veterans Chapter 470 began their tradition in December 1989, walking 61 miles from Anoka to the Wetterling home to raise awareness about Jacob's abduction.

On Saturday at 10:30 a.m., the group and others will make one last walk – 1 mile from Jacob's abduction site to the Wetterling home.

"A One-Mile walk – and then no more walks," Mike Clark, organizer of the walks and member of Chapter 470 said, "but Jacob and all children who are now missing will always have a place in our hearts."

The group also walked the original path on the fifth, 10th, 15th and 20th anniversaries of the first walk.

At the end of their walk, the group will give the Wetterlings a "Jacob's Hope Flag," which was made in 1989 and carried in every walk over the years.
