Patti Smith Sings Bob Dylan At Nobel Prize Ceremony, With A Few Hiccups

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Legendary punk singer Patti Smith performed a tribute to Duluth native Bob Dylan at a Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm that Dylan himself didn't attend.

But Smith's performance didn't go off without a hitch -- she flubbed the lyrics to "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall" on a few occasions, even stopping the performance to restart.

"Sorry, can we start that section over? I'm so nervous," Smith said, as the audience gave her some encouragement.

Despite the pauses, the performance was still profoundly moving to those in attendance, and Dylan fans all over the world. A YouTube video of the song garnered nearly a million views in a matter of days, while the performance listed 2.6 million views on Facebook.

Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature and was characteristically mum about the honor, only mentioning it briefly, but with gratitude.
