Rod Carew's Surgery A Success

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Twins Hall of Famer Rod Carew underwent a successful heart surgery and kidney transplant.

The Twins released a statement Friday saying the 71-year-old Carew is expected to make a full recovery.

The procedure, performed at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, lasted 13 hours.

Carew suffered a heart attack on Sept. 20, 2015, and has worked with the Twins since then to raise funds for the American Heart Association.
