MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Cat and dog people often feud over which pet is better or smarter. Well, a new study won’t end the debate.

Japanese scientists tested cats on their ability to remember were their food ball was. The majority were able to remember their bowls and the location.

The researchers say this is called episodic memory and it means cats could be just as smart as dogs.

Researchers say that episodic memory is often associated with having a degree of self-awareness.
