Forest Lake City Council Approves New Police Department Contract

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Forest Lake council members did an about-face Monday night, one week after rejecting a contract to keep the city's police department.

By a vote of 4-1, the council approved a new three-year contract with the city's police department, saving the jobs of 23 officers.

The agreement came after serious pushback from the public.

The mayor said he was trying to save the city money by contracting with Washington County.
