Five Passengers Abandon Burning Boat In Prior Lake

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- No one was hurt after a boat fire on Prior Lake Thursday night,

According to the Scott County Sheriff's Office, just after 7 p.m. deputies received several calls of a boat on fire on Prior Lake.

Upon arrival, officers found a 2008 Runabout fully engulfed in flames.

The boat was owned by a Prior Lake resident and had five occupants. All five people were able to safely evacuate the boat, being aided by other boaters on the lake.

Two suffered minor burns and were treated on the scene.

The Prior Lake Fire Department was able to quell the fire and bring the boat to shore near the 16200 block of Lakeside Avenue SE. It was a total loss.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. However, no foul play is suspected.
