About 100 Paynesville Homes Evacuated After Toxic Fire
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- People are back in their homes Friday night after an evacuation in a central-Minnesota town.
A semi-trailer carrying dangerous chemicals caught fire on a highway in Paynesville shortly after midnight, causing a toxic fire.
It prompted law enforcement to shut down part of Highway 23 and go door-to-door, evacuating nearly 100 homes.
Families stayed at the local high school until the toxic smoke dissipated. No one was injured.
