MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A man is in the hospital Wednesday after being hit by a semi while crossing the street near the University of Minnesota campus.

The Minneapolis Police Department says the pedestrian was struck around 2:13 p.m. at the intersection of Huron Boulevard and University Avenue, near TCF Bank Stadium.

Emergency crews brought the victim to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. He was listed in critical condition Wednesday night.

Police say the semi driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

  1. We are teaching a generation of id^#(@s. Look both ways and look again. REPEAT. Proceed with caution. Stay alert all the way crossing the street (REGARDLESS OF CROSSWALK, BUS ARM, OR ONE MOTORIST CONCEDING RIGHT OF WAY). Today, I watched seven high school age kids cross in a walk. Five had their eyes on their phones and never viewed traffic. That “walk” light must had been protecting them.
