MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — There’s a big party in the south metro Tuesday — the Minnesota Zoo is turning 40!

The zoo opened on May 22, 1978. To celerbate, the zoo in Apple Valley is throwing a big sleepover party.

Dozens of elementary school students from central Minnesota will get to see what happens when the lights go off at the Zoo. They will get to see a reef dive show with sharks, and take part in some other fun activities before getting into their sleeping bags for the night.
