'Absolutely Incredible': Trump Supporters Moved By Rochester Rally
ROCHESTER, Minn. (WCCO) -- The city of Rochester says 14,000 people came out to see President Donald Trump Thursday -- that includes people both inside and outside of the Mayo Civic Center.
The line to get into the rally snaked through at least five city blocks in the downtown portion of the city at one point. Some got there as early as 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Most people told WCCO-TV they waited between one and three hours in line. New Hope resident Diane Seifert says this crowd proves Trump has the power to turn Minnesota red.
"With everything that's going on now with politics and the Democrats are just being awful I think with [Brett Kavanaugh], you know, I think Republicans should have a chance. We need a chance to make things right again," Seifert said.
We spoke with supporters after the rally to hear what they thought about what the president had to say.
"It was absolutely incredible, best moment of my life by far," said a rally attendee. "I seen him once, I saw him in November, and I hope to go back again some day. Please come back. Mr. Trump! Whew hoo!"
"I don't know if he's got the power that lies within the people. The power to get people out to vote, that makes the difference," said another attendee.
There were a small number of protesters outside the rally, most of them carrying signs about the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh. Things remained mostly peaceful.
There was one arrest made outside the rally. A person was arrested for trespassing and resisting arrest. They are also being investigated by the Secret Service for a threat to the president.
