MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Part of downtown Rochester was closed down Wednesday due to a bomb scare, according to police.

A suspicious package was spotted near a bus shelter at about 4:45 p.m., leading police to set up a perimeter in the area.

The St. Paul Bomb Squad was called in to investigate the package, which was later determined to not be an explosive.

Police reopened the area to traffic and pedestrians at about 9:15 p.m. They are still investigating.
