Minnesota Weather: May Snowstorm Rolls Through The State

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Drenching rain turned to into a May snowstorm for much of Minnesota Wednesday -- and the flakes will continue flying over the Arrowhead well into Thursday.

A system stretching from the southeast to northeast corners of the state will drop snow overnight. By late Wednesday night, the Duluth-Cloquet area saw more than 6 inches of snow, and several more inches are expected by Thursday morning.

Cities like Blaine, North St. Paul and Spring Grove got 2 inches or more of rain Wednesday, while Minneapolis say 1.5 inches of rain -- which was close to the daily record.

The snow isn't expected to stick, however. Most of Minnesota will be in the 50s Thursday, and temperatures will slowly climb to the low 70s by early next week.
