MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Tyus Jones is heading to Memphis.

The hometown point guard signed a three year, $28 million deal with the Grizzlies.

The Timberwolves could have matched the offer but didn’t.

A statement by the team said, “We sincerely thank Tyus for his contributions on the court and Tyus and the entire Jones family for their genuine impact on the Twin Cities community. We wish them nothing but the best in Memphis.”

It also thanked Tyus and the Jones family for their impact on the Twin Cities.

    The writing was on the wall. The Wolves never really gave Tyus a chance – I wish that they would’ve named Tyus the starter for a full season and let us all see what he can do. Disgraceful by the Wolves to let the local kid be valued more by another organization. Good for you Tyus! We’ll miss you!

    jones family does not care about home teams….disgraceful how they both turned down the chance to play for the home team in college and now the NBA….good riddence
