MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — In what police are now calling an act of family violence a neighborhood is reacting to a tragic scene on a quiet suburban street. Three people were found dead inside a home in Apple Valley on Saturday.

All three were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds inside a house on the 13000 block of Upper Elkwood Court.

WCCO has been told by neighbors that a mother and her two adult sons live there. We have not confirmed that they are indeed the victims, but neighbors say they’re saddened by the situation.

“Apparently there was a lot going on behind closed doors,” said Doug Jones, who lives across the cul-de-sac from the crime scene. “We never heard any gunshots and we have no idea when, if it was yesterday morning or if it was Friday sometime.”

Police say shortly after noon on Saturday, someone called officers reporting that multiple people inside were shot. When officers arrived, they found an adult woman and two adult men dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Jones says he has interacted with the mother the most.

“Just very nice, just a very sweet person, always friendly. We would always chat for a few minutes out in the yard, both of us,” he said. “We just wish that she’d been able to get some help with the situation … before it came to this.”

Investigators have been speaking with family, friends and neighbors to piece together what may have happened. Police say “based on their findings, the deaths appear to be acts of family violence with the perpetrator ending their own life.”

The identities of the deceased have not been released. Officials say there is no threat to the public.
