Prince Mural Will Decorate Downtown Minneapolis Parking Ramp
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A mural celebrating the life of Minneapolis' favorite superstar will be painted on a parking ramp in downtown.
The Minneapolis City Council confirmed Thursday that a mural of Prince will adorn Ramp A near First Avenue and Target Center.
During a meeting, council member Lisa Goodman, who represents part of downtown, said she wasn't supposed to talk about mural and its contents during the approval process.
"Got it," responded Andrea Jenkins, the council president, just moments after asking about the mural of "Minneapolis' beloved son Prince Rogers Nelson."
The Minneapolis Downtown Council also confirmed that the mural on the highly-visible brick wall of Ramp A will celebrate Prince's life.
The artist's family will be involved in the creative process. So far, an artist has not yet been selected. The mural is expected to be finished by June.
This April will mark six years since the Minneapolis native died of an accidental fentanyl overdose at his Paisley Park home in Chanhassen.
