Twenty-one-year-old Tou Hu Vang jumped into the St. Croix River to save his 11-year-old nephew, Calvin Yang, on May 25, 2014. The two were fishing near Taylors Falls when Yang slipped and fell in the river. It took searchers five days to find Vang's body. Yang was rescued by a Good Samaritan soon after he fell in.
Man Honored For Jumping Off Cliff, Saving Kid In St. Croix River A good Samaritan who jumped into action was honored Wednesday for his heroism. In May, Calvin Vang, 11, fell into the St. Croix River while fishing in Taylors Falls. The boy's uncle drowned trying to save him. But a bystander was able to leap from a 30-foot cliff into the raging river and pull Vang to safety.
Body Of Coon Rapids Man Recovered From St. Croix RiverThe body of a 21-year-old Coon Rapids man has been recovered five days after he jumped into the St. Croix River to try to save his nephew. According to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, crews found the body of Tou Hu Vang Friday at 9:51 a.m. just south of the Osceola Landing.
