Best Valentine's Day Events For Singles In Minnesota

There's no reason you can't have fun on a day that seems to have been created just to make single people feel bad about themselves. There's no reason to stay hidden in your apartment with romance novels and junk food. In fact, this is your day too. Get out on the town and have a little fun. You're single. It means you're not weighed down with the responsibilities, and the costs, of having a significant other. You're still significant on your own, right? Don't forget that as you enjoy this holiday.

You don't have to be in a gushy relationship to hit the ground running. This race along Lake Harriet will let you show off your training, and still enjoy discounted drinks and Valentine's treats at the end. Relationship status back tags, labeled either with "Single", "It's Complicated" or "Taken," will let you meet other singles, if you so please, and also let you know who to stay away from. Or you can just leave the whole mess behind and run your heart out in one of the most beautiful parts of Minneapolis.

This rising Nashville star brings her unique sound to the Turf Club on Valentine's Day, and it's the perfect show for singles. As her bio states, she writes songs that "crucify ex-boyfriends, celebrate one-night stands (as long as she can bolt town right after) and proclaim that it's "always the right time to do the wrong thing..." It's a great venue to grab a few beers and get down and dirty to some floor-stomping music all night long, look for other singles to meet or simply enjoy the evening solo.

Garrison Keillor's lauded, hilarious show might not be the first thing you think of when you think of Valentine's Day. But that's kind of the point. The incredibly popular show will have you singing along one moment and in stitches the next, and the audience is sure to be full of other singles. Ladies can ogle special guest and musician Chris Thile, and gentleman can ogle the ladies... or just sit back and have a great time at this timeless sketch comedy show.

With so many good movies in theaters before blockbuster season starts, get some friends together, or say "screw it!" and go alone, munch on popcorn (made with real butter at Grandview) and enjoy an evening with the silver screen. Yes, it is possible that there might be a few couples making out in seats nearby, but they don't have to know it was you who threw popcorn at them, right? Check out something anti-mushy and have fun.
