DeBlog: My Little Boy Is 3 Today!
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Back when I first started this blog, I spent a lot of time talking about my kids. As they get older, it seems weird to talk about them constantly in blog format, and so I tend to keep that stuff on my Facebook and Twitter pages.
But, today's a big day. My baby boy Sammy is now 3 years old. I was thinking about how he came into the world. His due date was September 15, 2007. I was scheduled to MC a fundraiser for Opportunity Partners at the International Market Square. Senator Norm Coleman was in the crowd. Alyssa leans over to me before I go on stage with Heather Brown and says, "I think I'm going into labor."
She was. But this was baby number two, and with all things related to baby number two, there's not quite the same sense of urgency. I hosted the event, and then we went to a going-away party for my News Director at the time, Jeff Kiernan.
Jeff went on to be the news director of WBZ in Boston and he's now at WBBM in Chicago. We've all been through a lot!
Sammy waited until the 16th to arrive in this world.
My friend Kevin created this LOL-Sam:
Now, Sammy's three. His brother, Seth is in kindergarten. Look, here they are at the WCCO Control Room remote truck at the State Fair:
It's been a lot of fun. Happy birthday, Sammy!
