Esme Blog: Much Material For Voters To Work With

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Mark Dayton said this weekend, "It's not hard to make fun of myself when there is so much material to work with."

The same might be said of the other candidates as well. For the past six months, Dayton, Tom Emmer and Tom Horner have put themselves out there in a way that is unprecedented -- squaring off in almost 30 debates, sitting for countless interviews and knocking on goodness-knows how many doors.

With the brief exception of the summer months before Emmer transitioned to a professional campaign staff, the three candidates have been uniquely available for all Minnesotans to listen too.

While in some campaigns candidates shy away from too rigid a stance, that is certainly not the case here. Unapologetic in their views and ideologies, Dayton, Emmer and Horner have laid bare sharp contrasts not only in style, but substance and political philosophies.

It is a lot of material for voters to go over and make sound responsible decisions. And for that, no one can make fun of three. We can only thank them.
