WALKER, Minn. (AP) — A recount has affirmed that Cass County Chief Deputy Tom Burch has been elected the new sheriff of the northern Minnesota county.
The Brainerd Dispatch reports the margin certified by the county canvassing board this week is the same as the initial election results.
The newspaper says Burch won by 47 votes over Walker Police Chief Wayne Tennis, out of more than 12,000 votes cast.
Cass County Auditor-Treasurer Sharon Anderson says the recount found one error in each of two precincts, which offset each other.
The newspaper reports the recount results will be subject to a second county canvassing board, expected to convene early next week.
